The Boston Woods Trust

The Boston Woods Trust is expanding! Earlier this year, thanks to generous legacies, we were able to purchase another 23 acres (9.3 Ha) of land near Westgate Wood. The site will be called “Joan’s Wood” and will be an extension to Sir Joseph Banks Country Park. This is exciting for us; it is always great to be planting trees. Rachel and Abby from Froglife supplied us with plants to add to the restored ponds. It started as a misty murky morning, not great for wading into cold water but the volunteers got on with the job. Special thanks to Martin who came well prepared to wade into the deeper water where plants were weighed down with stones. They also built a hibernaculum so it will be interesting to see what new life can be found in the ponds as the season progresses.

Thanks to Adrian for eventually getting the paths to the Butterfly Throne completed, now ready for the spring clean & oil of all the carvings.
