On Tuesday 30th June there was a memorial service held at the Lincolnshire Road Victims Memorial in the Sir Joseph Banks Country Park to mark the end of the charity and celebrate it's lasting achievments. The service was taken by Bishop Nicholas and speakers included Denice Middlebrook, member of the committee and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Patron.
The LRVM charity was estalished in 2016 and has raised the money to sponsor a Stump view avenue in the memory of those that have died on the roads of Lincolnshire. A lasting memorial was constructed on the avenue and an elegant oak shelter was erected and seating provided. Lastly a circular garden of wild flowers was seeded in front of the shelter and around the memorial which is now flowering and looking glorious. This is all sited in the meadow next to Westgate Wood and provides quiet place in nature in which people can remember those they have lost and commemorate them with a plaque on the wall of the shelter.
The Boston Woods Trust is part of the community and is pleased to have been able to help Anne Bourne and her charity by providing this haven in nature. It will continue to maintain the memorial, oak shelter and wild flower garden and there is a link under Westgate Wood to Lincolnshire Road Victims where there is information about how to purchase a memorial plaque.
