The Sculptures in Westgate Wood
The Boston Woods Trust and Transported commissioned sculptor James Sutton to create a sculpture to commemorate Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820). The sculpture has now been completed and placed at the end of Stump View in Westgate Woods.
James Sutton took some of the original botanical drawings done by Sir Joseph Banks during his expeditions, as his inspiration. The two seeds created are an artistic representation of the many seeds collected on his travels. James hopes that as well as enjoying their visual impact you feel free to touch them to appreciate the various textures also created. The seeds were sculpted from local limestone.
A group of trustees and supporters joined the Bishop for a picnic lunch - thanks to Claire, Rosemary and Isabella.
The sculpture was officially named The Seeds of Time by The Right Revd. Christopher Lowson, Bishop of Lincoln who enjoyed a walk in the woods.
